Average Size of Hotel Room = 170 sq ft

Hotel & Leisure Advisors has accumulated a database of more than 6,000 hotel sales since 2000. This article analyzes the average hotel sale prices per room for the major brands in the hotel industry. The comparison includes top 10 brands by room count.

However, the interesting data appears in the “size” of each room.  Notice that the average room size is 170 square feet.  What travellers don’t realize, is that they are better off spending their money on a vacation rental condo, home, villa or town home and saving twice the money.

Premise of the comparison
Vacation Rentals are a wise choice.  Given the benefits of twice the space, cost privacy, and added amenities. Vacation rentals often offer additional space for less cost per night versus the typical hotel room. Amenities offered by vacation rentals often include washers and dryers in the rental, kitchens so you can save money by not having to eat at restaurants, DVD players, games and even private pools in some rentals.
