Keystone Resort Ends Ski Season with Slush Cup

2nd annual pond skimming event selling out River Run Village and Mountain House area.

The farewell party to the 2011/12 ski and snowboarding season comes to an end on Sunday April 8, 2012 for Keystone resort, but not before the resort has a chance to celebrate its 2nd annual “Keystone Slush Cup”. The skimming style event, now in its second-year, takes advantage of the spring snow melt and promises to bring sell-outs to lodging in the area.

Located at The Mountain House area of Keystone Resort, which was the first base area opened in 1970, the Slush Cup challenges skiers and snowboarders to the thrill of snow skiing and water skiing. After participants bail down Go Devil ski run, they are graded on the ability to carefully maneuver through a 25-yard pool of spring melt ice-water. Those that are successful, have the opportunity to win prizes for different categories. Award categories include Best Crash, Best Costume and Best Overall transition.

Prizes include free SummitPasses and various random prizes for participants.

The contest winner qualifies for the Slush Cup Championships scheduled at Vail Resort on April 15, 2012.

The Keystone Slush Cup registration starts Sunday April 10 at The Mountain House base office. The event is open to 100 participants on a first-come first-served basis with a registration fee of $35.00.Keystone Slush Cup

“This is turning out to be a huge event for the area, even after just one-year of existence. We’ve noticed event lodging at both The Mountain House Area and RiverRunVillage is filling-up,” says Gondola Resorts General Manager, Gino Malara. “There are still some Keystone vacation rentals still available within walking distance to the event, but those are sure to be sold-out soon”.

The closing weekend also hosts another episode of River Run Rocks on Saturday April 9 with concerts including The Great Unknowns, Robert Earl Keen and Marty Jones.

“This new pricing structure will provide our customers a great value on the heals of the recent snowfall we’ve had this past week”, said Gondola Resorts General Manager Gino Malara. “For example, a ski-in ski-out one bedroom condo at The Timbersreflects a savings of $200 per night through the remainder of the Keystone ski season”.

Gondola Resorts Announces Headquarters Move to Lower Downtown (LoDo) Denver, Colorado

Location to Provide Proximity to New Light Rail,  Conference and Hotel Space via Office Located at TheOxford Annex

Gondola Resorts Executive Offices

Gondola Resorts, the vacation rental company of choice for ski resorts in Colorado and Utah announced today the relocation of its national headquarters to Colorado in the LoDo district of Denver.  The headquarters also includes its Florida affiliate of Orlando.

The lodging and ski resort vacation rental company will occupy space at The Oxford Annex Executive Suites located at 1616 Seventeenth Street, just across the street from Union Station, and 3 blocks from Coors Field. The new location will provide employees with proximity to transportation hubs and Denver’s thriving local lower downtown business community in addition to RTD’s Light Rail System. Gondola Resorts has been headquartered in Arvada, Colorado since 2008.

“We are escatic to be returning to our roots, and rejoining the Denver business community,” said Gino Malara, General Manager of Gondola Resorts. “The relocation of Gondola Resorts’ headquarters to lower downtown will allow for proximity to convenient
transportation via light rail options, as well as amenities such as conference and hotel space for future Gondola Resorts events.  When the RTD Rail Line is complete, it will
allow for easy access to Denver International Airport and other areas in the Denver
metro area”, Malara said.

In 2011, The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded RTD of Denver with a $1.03 billion Grant for the East Rail Line to Denver International Airport and the Gold Line to Arvada and Wheat Ridge. This was the largest transit grant awarded by the Obama Administration to date.

Denver's future light rail

The 19-acre parcel of land just adjacent to the new Gondola Resorts offices, which
includes the historic station, is forecasted to become Denver’s central transportation hub and a glittery attraction for Lodo.

The $400+ million Union Station project has been coined the biggest transportation  project in North America, and has been in the planning and implementation phase for almost 15 years.

The transportation portion of it, incorporating commuter and light rail, Amtrak,
and commercial and RTD buses, is scheduled to be finished by the spring of 2014.

Gondola Resorts officially began operations in the Oxford office in early December
2010. The organization will continue to provide full check-in offices at all of their resort locations including Aspen, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Park City, Orlando, and Telluride, through affiliate partnerships.  The move has allowed the organization to take advantage of the current real estate environment, and provides a cost savings which will help better serve their business needs at 10 different resort locations nationwide.

Gondola Resorts Offers Ways to Save Money When Traveling To Ski Resorts in Colorado This Holiday Season

Cut rates pushing 50% at resorts including Aspen, Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper and Telluride for last minute vacationers

Despite Christmas being less than two weeks away, many holiday travelers are still looking for deals on lodging at Colorado ski resorts.  Unfortunately, traveling to Colorado’s world-class ski resorts is often deemed to be a very expensive endeavor for most people. This is particularly true when the budget is tight, but Gondola Resorts has several December discouns that can make it possible for just about anyone to enjoy a Colorado skiing or snowboarding trip this holiday season.

“If you think about it, the holiday season is the best time to take avantage of discounts on vacation rentals and lodging,” said Gino Malara, Gondola Resorts CEO. “With the stress of the holidays, people are looking for a way to get a way. They need a place where they
can get away from their worries and simply have fun. And, by following a few simple
tips, it really is possible for just about anyone to get a break on prices at any Colorado ski resort.”

In order to save money on a vacation to any ski resort, for example, Gondola Resorts recommends the following tips with the latest and greatest deals still available:

# Book late – by booking late, you can find the best deals and take advantage of the inventory that is still open.  Most vacation rental homeowners don’t want their properities to stay open during the holiday season.  This is just like throwing away money. Thus, open inventory gets discounted right before the holidays.  The strategy – locating the deals.

CURRENT DEAL:  Keystone: 1 bedroom/2 bath.  Ski/in Ski/out. Sleeps 5. Price last week-$699/nt, this week-$349/nt. Reservations 12/18 – 12/26

# Plan to travel by shuttle – renting a vehicle can be expensive and shuttle services
will get you to all of the major ski resorts via any Colorado airport especially from Denver International Airport.

CURRENT DEAL:  20% off shuttle service from Denver Internation Airport to Breckenridge, Keystone and Copper Mountain

# Book condos – there are many lodging options available in Colorado and you can actually save money on travel and other fees if you work with a vacation rental wholesaler or management company rather than working directly with hotels, orbitz or expedia.com.

CURRENT DEAL:  Aspen:  $235 Per Night at Timber Ridge #3E.  3 blocks to lifts.  Save $300 per night for Dec 18-23.  See Aspen website for details.

# Travel with a group – by traveling with a group of friends and family members, you
can rent one of the many holiday vacation homes or large condos the resorts have to offer and split the costs.

CURRENT DEAL:  Telluride, Colorado – 4 bedroom, 3 bath at “Rocky Road” luxury private home.  Rates starting at $800/nt

Telluride's Rocky Road Home Rental

“We truly feel that renting vacation rentals as opposed to other lodging options is
the best way to save money,” continued Mr. Malara. “Not only can you save money on a
per-person basis, you can also save money on expenses such as food because you can cook all of your meals in the kitchen. You won’t find that option with a hotel!”

While a trip to Colorado will still require making a bit of a financial investment, following these simple tips can make this holiday excursion more affordable and attainable.  To learn more about renting vacation homes, condos or town homes at Colorado ski resorts, visit GondolaResorts.com.

Colorado skiing: Like no other on Earth

Colorado is by far one of the best  known ski areas on Earth, notorious for boasting the earliest ski season in the US as well as one of the longest ski and snowboarding seasons in the world. With resorts opening as early as October, Colorado’s ”big snow” winter is a huge advertisement for skiers and snowboarders alike. Whether staying in the mile-high city of Denver and driving to one of the dozens of nearby resorts or acting like a celebrity in an elegant mountain condo at the base of the mountain, this ski capital of the world has a vacation option for any budget. The thirty four resorts spread out through the Colorado Rockies gives vacationers and locals something new to choose every year.  Whether you prefer the family atmosphere of Keystone Resort or the bustle of a multi-peak resort like Breckenridge, or the luxury of Telluride,  or the back home feel of a small local’s favorite, you and your family will find what you’re looking for in the mountains of Colorado.

The top 5 condos to rent at Keystone Resort

Keystone Resort Colorado

1.  The Timbers on River Run.  Don’t be fooled. This is the most luxurious, convenient and newest condominium rental property at Keystone Resort in Colorado.  It boasts a “Ritz-Carlton” atmosphere from the time you enter the building and at a fractiion of the price.  Although most of the condos are valued at over $1 million, the rental fees are at least 68% lower than the Beaver Creek Ritz-Carlton Hotel or 49% lower than corresponding BC Hyatt ski in ski out hotel.  Accomodations include 12 person hot tub, private ski lockers, firepit, heated indoor/outdoor pool, spa, steam room, bar and underground heated parking with elevator.  1 bedroom condos start at $199 in the summer and $659 during the Christmas holiday season.  Discounts and specials still can be found at some property management companies.  Don’t worry about hauling your ski equipment across the resort because The Timbers is a true ski in ski out location.  Take the elevator to the second floor and walk out onto the ski slope.  Although it sits back from the main Keystone trail that serves the Gondola, this is actually a benefit.  Noise from the ski grooming tractors at night don’t frustrate those light sleepers!  Another benefit that most vacationers won’t realize…it’s half the size of Lone Eagle which reduced the noise by 50%.  Take it from the locals; The Timbers takes the #1 prize for “best in class”.

2.  Lone Eagle.  Taking the #2 top spot in Keystone is the 5-star ski in ski out luxury of Lone Eagle condominium condos at River Run Resort.  Situated next to The Timbers, Lone Eagle sits directly on the main ski slope that serves the Gondola and River Run Village.  For those interested in watching skiers and snowboarders desperately try to avoid crashing at the bottom of the slope, this is the condo for you!  Of coure, you can book a condo on the “quiet side” of the building for more privacy and solitude.  Lone Eagle is known as one of the best buildings in Summit County and built in 2001.  Accomodations include heated outdoor pool, ski lockers, luxury lobby, spa, gym and 100 yards to River Run Village and the Gondola…all downhill.  Prices are very similar to The Timbers since it’s rated by most travel companies as 5-star and double diamond.

3.  Settlers Creek Town Homes.  Why in the world does Settlers Creek boat the #3 best place to stay in Keystone some may ask?  Well, for those who aren’t afraid of the free Keystone shuttle, this is a hidden gem of gems.  Built in 2006, they are the newest rentals in East Keystone.  No others offer garages in that particular area with the exception of Ski Tip Lodge.  Most of the town home rentals offer more space, also.  A 2-bedroom is 20% cheaper than corresponding River Run Village vacation rentals and have 20% more space.  For a calm, and relaxing atmosphere,  Settlers Creek actually takes the #1 spot.  The neighborhood has it’s own heated pool, hot tub, and private log cabin for group gatherings or parties.

4.  The Springs.  New for 2008-09 season, The Springs is the closest Building to the new River Run Gondola! Springs also offers luxurious amenities for kids. It features it’s own private year-round pool with a slide that winds through the rocks and hot tubs and a zero-entry fountain area.  Remember, this is NOT ski in ski out.  You will still need to walk at least 100 yards to the new Gondola and 150 yards into River Run Village to eat and shop.  Located just east of the village, Springs is a favorite of those travellers that are searching for the very nice accomodations but don’t want to pony-up for the true ski in ski out locations at Lone Eagle and The Timbers.

5.  Chateuax D’Mont.  The Mountain House Base Area is Keystone’s original base area and features one of Keystone’s nicest vintage buildings, the Chateaux D’Mont.  CDM comes in #5 because lovers enjoy the its ever-popular in-room hot tubs.  Will the multitudes of summer weddings, these are the perfect condo rentals for lovers.  The Mountain House area is also a great place for skiers of all ages and has rental shops as well as the largest learning area on the mountain with the Discovery, Poma and Magic carpets all there. For experts and riders, the high speed Peru Express takes you to the top and to the A-51 terrain park.

Vacation Rentals – New options to consider

With so many new participants in the vacation rental business these days, consumers are starting to look much closer when shopping for that perfect holiday rental. When Linda Whitefrog booked her 7 bedroom 6 bath vacation home for their family vacation, she had a horrible experience. “I made a reservation from somebody I didn’t know online, and I lost $2,000″, she exclaims. “Now, I make sure to call the company direct, and ask lots of questions before committing any money”.

One of Gondola Resorts' luxury rentals - Telluride

Gondola Resorts lists more than 500 “professionally managed” luxury and modest rental properties, and offers consumers a level of security that many others online retailers don’t possess. “People call and are sometimes leary about pricing, accomodations and the overall experience”, says their vacation specialist. We take time with our potential clients and provide a comfortable and safe way to book vacation rentals. We have returning guests that will spend thousands of dollars on a family skiing vacation, and they don’t want the hassle of shopping other online companies when they know and trust our services”.

Rental searches can be started by dates/destination, and rental suggestions are populated instantly. Search returns are easily given, with links that narrow results by bedrooms, amenities, property category and more. Discounts and specials are listed under the “guest services” menu and offer travel insurance and discounted lift tickets to name a couple. Search returns can be browsed by category in the site’s specials area. Links to recently viewed properties follow from screen to screen, as do the dates of the last search. Inventory in Colorado ski resorts is particularly expansive.

At this time, Gondola Resorts offers rentals only in the Colorado and Florida markets. Those Colorado resort locations include Keystone, Copper Mountain, Telluride, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs and in Orlando, Florida. You’ll have to do your shopping somewhere else for Europe or Mexico destinations although Gondola Resorts has plans to expand to these markets in 2011. Although the site will give only a range of nightly rates for your dates, booking is not direct — name and e-mail address must be submitted to correspond with a reservations agent (or call an 800 number).
