If you want a killer snowboarding and ski expo, this is it. Keystone will host The Gatorade Free Flow Tour in January 2010. This inaugural winter season will be the kickoff for this newly organized competition. The tour will hold snowboarding contests in January that consist of slope style competitions, snowboard and free ski super pipe events at 10 different resorts. Showcasing the best amateur skiers and snowboarders, Gatorade hopes to boost awareness for future events, especially at Keystone Resort.
“Being able to bring amateurs in snowboarding and free skiing the same stepping stone to the pros we offer skateboarders and BMX riders through the summer Free Flow Tour is something we are really excited about,” said Kenny Mitchell, Gatorade action sports team manager.
Similar to the Gatorade summer skateboarding events, the winners in each of the 51 contests will be flown to the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals, taking place in conjunction with the Dew Tour’s Toyota Championship, Feb. 5-7, at Mount Snow Resort in Vermont, where one person will be crowned in each of the six disciplines (men’s snowboard super pipe and slope style; women’s snowboard super pipe and slope style; free ski super pipe and slope style).
Encompassing the “Flow to Pro” theme that is the cornerstone of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, the two overall snowboard super pipe and slope style champions and the overall free ski super pipe and slope style champions earn a spot to compete against the pros at the first stop of the 2010-11 Winter Dew Tour the following season.
Think you’ve got what it takes? Registration for the 2010 Gatorade Free Flow Tour (snow edition) will be open on Wednesday (Oct. 28) at www.gatoradefreeflowtour.com. Spots are limited, so make sure you secure yours. Who knows, you could be next!
